Day 363

Theater Lights
After Camera Club tonight, I was thinking that I needed to find a pic.  I remembered that earlier tonight my cousin Dani called looking for directions and said she was going to a show at the Egyptian.  So, ignoring the fact that Dani was going to be in Ogden and not planning on seeing me, I thought I'd stop by on my way home and take some shots.  I just love this theatre all lit up for a show.

...Okay, in Dani's defense I used to work there and she thought I still did.  Love you D! ;-)

Day 356

Graffiti Under the Viaduct
Yes, "Semi Anonymous Dude" I took a "Body Guard."  ...thanks for the great idea by the way!

Day 343

It's a Sign!
My friend Sarah called me today and asked me if I had a picture of the Ogden Sign.  I said sure and I'd send her a copy (it's Day 20 if you are wondering).  Well, the more I looked at it, the more I thought..."I can do better than that!"

So, here's the attempt.  I don't know if it's better, but it's different.  :-)

Day 271

Barefoot
I was wondering what this child's mother was thinking letting her son go barefoot downtown, then I saw her. :-)

Day 192

The Kayaker
I've decided to leave my comfort zone with today's photo.  I took a class from Jon Williams on Photography and Natural Light and we shot like crazy this morning, then this afternoon I went to my parent's house for the annual Easter Egg Hunt (and froze my tush).  Needless to say I have about 8 million pictures to choose from, but this one jumped out at me.  Mostly because it is so incredibly different from anything I ever shoot.

Anyway, it was taken at the Kayak park just off 24th Street in Ogden.  If you want some great shots with fantastic light, go there!

Day 187

24th & Washington
This photo makes my little town look much less sleepy than it actually is.

Day 154

Street Lamp
This street lamp looked kinda cool to me against a white snowy sky.

Day 153

The China Nite
Lara and Dale inspired me.  I actually went and shot a bunch of pics at The China Nite yesterday afternoon, but ended up with shots I wanted to use at my photography class last night instead.  SO, I went back today after work and reshot the happy China Nite man.  Looking in the windows of this building, it looks pretty gutted and I'm afraid that it's going to be torn down soon.  It'll be a sad day.

Day 134

Sundance

Sorry I'm a bit late posting. Tonight (last night) was quite a night and I didn't get a chance to get to a computer.

Good news though, one of my photos was accepted in to the Black & White Competition at the Eccles Community Arts Center. The exibit runs February 1st through March 29th so if you're in town or are going to be, come and check it out.

p.s. One of Johnny's photos was accepted as well...YAY Johnny!

Day 64

Star Noodle

I thought about posting another window but decided I didn't want to get stuck in a rut. Besides, this is a much better photo. Star Noodle Parlor was open for a good 50+ years and closed before I got a picture of the sign lit up at night, and while it's a pretty cool sign in the daylight, it's much cooler at night.
__________

For those of you aspiring photogs out there, my Camera Club is starting a weekly Photo Hunt, and we'd LOVE as many people as are interested to join us. All you need to do is take a picture that follows the weekly theme listed on the Camera Club's blog, post it to your blog, then send me an email so that I can post a link to your site.

Come play with us! It will be fun!

Day 57

Refrigerator Graveyard
Right next to my favorite coffee shop, The Daily Rise ...and don't worry, I don't go there for coffee, mormon's don't do that ;-) ... there are a bunch of old refrigerators. Every time I drive through to get my Guava Smoothie (or as we call it at work, Guapo), I kinda feel bad for the poor things.

What you don't see is Larry & his one eyed friend Mo just outside the frame, eating their wonder bread sandwiches and telling me about the Japanese ghost named Konnichiwa that haunts them...I love downtown Ogden!

Day 29

2nd Street
You want the story? Well the story is...I'm a Dork! Actually, it's this:

Several years ago, when the 2nd "X-Men" movie came out, the girls in my office decided that we needed X-Men names. Well, mine wasn't very hard to come up with, it's "Distract-o." And not for a good reason either. It isn't because I'm distract-ing, it's because I'm distract-ed. I will swear on my dearly departed grandparents, I HAVE A. D. D.!

See?

Back to the story. This week I've had about a million things running through my head and grand plans for a photo for today (I won't tell you what it is, I'm still going to do it). Well, my friend Lara asked me if I wanted to come see a movie in Salt Lake with her and I said that I would. Well, that killed my plans for a pic. But today, I decided that I had way to much to do to go to a movie, so I had better not go with her.

Yay! The shoot was back on.

So, I got off work and headed to Costco to pick up the prints of the photos I did for my friend Cecily yesterday, and when I saw them I knew that I had to get them to her immediately. So I called her and said "I'm on my way!" And thoughts for anything even remotely having to do with the 365 Project flew out the window.

Not long after I called Cecily, I realized "Crap! I have to shoot something!" So I decided that at the next stop light I'd find something to shoot. At the time of my realization, I was on 36th Street. It took me all the way to 2nd Street to get a stop light, and this is my result.

See what I mean? A. D. D.

Day 20

The Ogden Sign
I need help! I need ideas! Today was particularly difficult because I just couldn't think of anything to shoot. I'm planning a whole bunch of "people" shots, but those take ... well, planning, and I've been just trying day to day to find a shot. Maybe that's my mistake. SO, I would like your help. Please, please, please leave a comment with suggestions of what you'd like to see. I would be ever so grateful!!! In the mean time, here's another "night time Ogden" shot.

Enjoy...and I can't wait to see your ideas.

Day 16

Sushi Baby!

This is my favorite Sushi restaurant in all the world...not that I've been to all of the world...or had Sushi there...I just love Tona! Tonight was difficult, I was so excited for the shoot and it kinda disapointed me. :-( Oh well, there are another 349 days to make me feel better.

P.S. Go check out Em-cat's (or if you are confused as to who Em-cat is, my sister Emily) blog. I'm so very excited that she has joined the blogging world. It's a fun ride!
